Mary Visits Elizabeth
Please take a moment to read and meditate upon these words and allow God's Word to direct your life.
"At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea, where she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth. When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit. In a loud voice she exclaimed: 'Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear!'" (Luke 1:39-42, NIV)
When Mary visits Elizabeth, the encounter is filled with joy and the Holy Spirit. Elizabeth’s recognition of Mary’s blessedness and the child she bears highlights the divine nature of Jesus’ conception. This passage celebrates the bond of faith and the joy that comes from recognizing God's work in others.
Mary’s journey to Elizabeth and Elizabeth’s response highlights the themes of faith and obedience. Mary’s readiness to visit Elizabeth and share her news and Elizabeth’s receptive and joyful acknowledgment both demonstrate their faith and willingness to participate in God’s plan.
