Through the Wilderness
It feels like the wilderness is getting a bit more “wildernessy”. If you're watching any news these days, the situations all around the globe are quite disturbing. It seems like so many are walking in the wilderness of anger ... despair ... uncertainty ... and we need the voice of reason and calm and assurance.
Like many of you, with Father's Day on my heart and mind, I recall the feeling of trust I had in my dad. He was not a big man ... well, at least not a tall man ... but he was strong and determined and a man of deep conviction. With all that is swirling around us, I am reminded of a simple little chorus my dad loved to sing. As I sing it, it feels like I am reaching up for Dad's hand and finding his strength ... which he received from a trust in the Lord that wouldn't let go ... believing with all of his heart that God will take care of us and lead us through ... all the way to the other side ... of all of this.
"My Lord knows the way through the wilderness
All I have to do is follow
My Lord knows the way through the wilderness
All I have to do is follow
Strength for today is mine all the way
And all that I need for tomorrow
My Lord knows the way through the wilderness
All I have to do is follow"
“… He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.” Psalm 23:3 (KJV)
"My grace is sufficient for you: for my strength is made perfect in your weakness." 2 Corinthians 12:9 (KJV)
Let's reach up and hold our Father's strong hand together. Whatever comes, He has promised to walk with us, to be our strength, and to never leave us or forsake us. Let's encourage each other with His promises ... He will keep them.
