Jonah 1:4 God Intervenes

After Jonah set sail for Tarshish, God allowed him to get out to sea and think he was in the clear. It was only then that God sent the storm to get Jonah's attention and redirect him back to God's plan.

Jigsaw Puzzles Drive Me Crazy

I have never been a fan of jigsaw puzzles. I know some of you are ... maybe even a lot of you. I have seen pictures posted of completed puzzles and have felt just a twinge of envy. I am very impressed with a person’s tenacity to put a 500 to 1000-piece puzzle together. I have a very limited attention span ... and I am terribly impatient.

A Green Thumb Not Required

My son, Jamie, gave a beautiful plant to me for Mother's Day a few years ago. When my son, Chris, saw it, he said, "I give it three weeks."  I certainly wasn't offended by Chris's comment.  In fact, it was funny.  But it was also possibly … probably … very true.  He knows.  My whole family knows.  Most plants come to my house to die.  I don't kill them intentionally.  I just don't have the knack.   

Is anyone Feeling Tired? I Am!

I preached this sermon "Is Anyone Feeling Tired? I Am!" on July 9, 2023. The Scripture covered was Matthew 11:25 - 30. We all have bad days but did Jesus have bad days? In Matthew 11:25-30 he ends what could be called a few bad days for Jesus with a prayer of thanksgiving and an invitation to come to him and he will give us rest. We are to take his yoke upon us and he will help us carry it.

Jonah 1:3 A Runaway Heart

Jonah's decision to run away from the Lord was in stark contrast to what he was supposed to do. He was supposed to obey. He was supposed to go east. Instead, he went west and physically showed that his heart had already run away.
